First Fair Wear Brand Performance Check: The S.OLIVER GROUP was rated “good”

The S.OLIVER GROUP, one of the Fair Wear Foundation’s largest member brands, was rated “good”, placing them in the second best category.

In July 2023, having been a member of the Fair Wear Foundation for a little over a year, the S.OLIVER GROUP was audited for the first time as part of the Brand Performance Check. The result: the S.OLIVER GROUP, one of the Fair Wear Foundation’s largest member brands, was rated “good”, placing them in the second best category. This rating is awarded to companies in the textile industry that demonstrate a strong commitment to improving working conditions in their supply chain. This result is a testament to the S.OLIVER GROUP’s sustainability efforts in recent years and is an important indicator for future developments.

During the annual Brand Performance Check, Fair Wear assesses and rates all its member brands on their progress in protecting and promoting human rights in their supply chains. Companies are assessed, for example, to see if they provide training to improve social standards, how complaints from production workers are handled and whether a management system has been implemented for risk prevention. “Human rights and fair working conditions are of central importance in the implementation of our sustainability strategy. We are therefore very pleased to receive the good rating from Fair Wear and see it as our obligation to become even better,” says Sabrina Müller, Head of Sustainability at the S.OLIVER GROUP.

In its first year of Fair Wear membership, the S.OLIVER GROUP mainly focused on introducing a complaints mechanism system and implementing supplier qualification measures. “The S.OLIVER GROUP has a complex and broad supply chain and has used its first year of membership to lay the groundwork for further improving its practices and implementing prevention and improvement programs in the years to come," said Annet Baldus, Brand Liaison Coordinator at the Fair Wear Foundation.

The Fair Wear Foundation is one of the most important non-profit organisations that is dedicated to protecting the rights of those working in the textile industry around the world. As a multi-stakeholder initiative, the organisation brings together brands, manufacturers, workers, trade unions, NGOs and other industry representatives to promote greater cooperation and alignment at different levels of the supply chain.
